Dear colleagues, friends and partners ofHéritage Montréal,
We wish to write to you today to inform you of our activities in these exceptional circumstances that affect people and organizations alike.
Following government measures to protect public health in the face of the COVID-119 pandemic, theHéritage Montréal team has been working remotely since March 16.
Several of our operations are affected.
1. Activities to mark the International Day for Monuments and Sites on 18 April will not take place. However, we are preparing a number of activities to celebrate this day via our web platforms.
2. The City Talk organized in partnership with the McCord Museum and scheduled for May 6th has been postponed to next fall.
3. Our guided tours Au Coeur de la Métropole (starting in May) and ArchitecToursⓇ (starting in August) are currently being maintained.
We will shortly be communicating withHéritage Montréal members about our Annual General Meeting scheduled for the end of May.
In addition, Héritage Montréal continues to monitor priority heritage and development files, even though the confinement and suspension of consultation activities affect many of them. These include, for example, the updating of Montreal's urban plan, the imminent report of the Auditor General of Quebec on real estate heritage, and the future of major sites such as the disused heritage hospitals, the Square Mile, the Molson Brewery and Lachine East. For us, this break is also an opportunity to develop some research into possible solutions for the protection and, above all, the requalification of the city's heritage.
We also invite you to follow us on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. Every day we share commented photos of our neighbourhoods on Instagram, as well as various resources on heritage, architecture, urban planning and history on our other platforms.
Join us and let's take advantage of this suspended time together to get informed, get inspired and explore Montréal and its heritage while respecting the rules of social distancing recommended by the competent authorities.
Stay healthy and look forward to seeing you soon,
TheHéritage Montréal
